Born in Nuremberg, Germany on December 13th, 1939, the son of Josef and Rosa Fuerbacher, Guenter and Astrid moved from Germany to New Jersey in 1966 and moved to Fairport, NY in 1977 where they have lived ever since. In his early years, Guenter and his family had to leave Nuremberg and move to the small town of Beratzhausen Germany as a result of World War II. After schooling in a small town, Guenter moved back to Nuremberg and started work first as a diamond cutter and then moving toward his passion for working with people and sales in a stationary store in the city. Although both Guenter and Astrid had met as children, they found each other and started what would be a 56 year relationship of love and caring for one another. On the 27th of December 1964, Guenter and Astrid were married in the Mariahilfes Church in Beratzhausen, Germany and shortly after started a family.

Guenter and Astrid grew their family in the United States of America and Guenter spent many years in automotive management and in 1984, Guenter and Astrid started their company Universal Imports of Rochester from the front porch of their home in Fairport, selling European automobiles. 34 years later, Universal Imports has grown, having two facilities in Rochester, NY and with over 20 employees, Universal Imports is one of the largest Import car repair and sales facilities in upstate NY. Guenter became a United States citizen in April of 2000 and has been a member of the Fairport Rotary Club for over 20 years and has been awarded the honor of Paul Harris Fellow.

Guenter has touched so many lives and aside from his primary interest of running his company and his love of cars, Guenter enjoyed nature. He loved his garden and being outside whenever possible. Guenter loved his family above all and was the best Husband, Father and Pa that anyone could ever have. Guenter loved children so in his honor, we ask in lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 6:30pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 48 Perrin St. in Fairport NY.
